Sally Schaefer is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist with classical background in piano, violin, and voice and master's degrees in ethnomusicology and library science. She is best known for her work as a Buffalo-based violinist in genres as diverse as Americana, Celtic music, rock, hip hop, polka, and punk. She plays with an array of Buffalo-based bands and artists, including Tyler Bagwell, Creek Bend, Buffalo Bluegrass Allstars, McCarthyizm, Bill Ward, Celtic Spirit Pipe Band, and Over & Out, and is a touring musician with popular alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs (violin, mandolin, backup vocals, rhythm guitar). She also collaborates regularly with local indie artists Stress Dolls, Koko Neetz, Chuckie Campbell, and Christina Stock, and polka-folk band Captain Tom & the Hooligans. Sally has performed live at hundreds of events across New York State over the last decade. She regularly records for both professional and personal projects based in Buffalo and Western New York.
