Sally Schaefer (aka "sallyanndra") is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist with classical background in piano, violin, and voice and master's degrees in ethnomusicology and library science. She is best known for her work as a Buffalo-based violinist in genres as diverse as Americana, Celtic music, rock, hip hop, polka, and punk. She plays solo under the moniker sallyanndra, as a duo with singer-songwriter and historian Tyler Bagwell (and full band The Travesties), and in the Celtic/alternative rock band McCarthyizm. She performed lead violin and backup vocals in mid-2010s Buffalo indie punk band Over & Out, was a regular member of Creek Bend bluegrass and the Buffalo Bluegrass Allstars from 2020 to 2025, and toured as a supporting musician with popular alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs (violin, mandolin, guitar, backup vocals) in 2023. She collaborates regularly with local artists Stress Dolls, Koko Neetz, Chuckie Campbell, Christina Stock, and polka-folk band Captain Tom & the Hooligans. Sally has performed live at hundreds of events across New York State and the eastern United States over the last decade. She regularly records for both professional and personal projects based in Buffalo and further afield.
